Highlights of our week from the perspective of our students:  -“In reading, we’ve been using the dictionary to understand words we don’t know yet. Today I looked up “brilliant.” EVK -“In writing, we were writing bout our long weekend. I wrote about going to the new library. We had Take 1 and Take 2. For Take 1, we wrote our best about our weekend. For Take 2, we had to zoom in on one thing and really elaborate on it.” LC -“For math today, we had five questions and I finished three. We are working on subtracting with regrouping. We are using a lot of different strategies.” BR -“In math, some of us did a little bit of times (multiplication) but it was under five for the numbers. We had to show it with things that look like cucumbers.” JM -“We did a ‘show what you know’ about the four countries that we have been working on for a long time. Highlights of our week from the perspective of our students:  "We learned the difference between a fidget tool and a fidget toy." WC "We are working on skipping and one of the moves we are working on is the straddle cross." SS "We were looking at artifacts and then we wrote our connections, wonders and notices in our visual journals." KB "In Research, we looked at health care in Peru, Tunisia, Ukraine and India." JP "We had Valentine's day today and we got lots of Valentine's cards and we made our own bags." CB "We learned a new strategy in Math and it was called stacking." February 4th - 8th

In grade three this week…. In writing, students continued to work on their narrative story writing. This week students focussed on writing about their story problem and attempts to solve the problem. Students then had opportunities to provide peer feedback to one another and revise their work.  In Math, students continued to work on subtraction and focussed on using a new strategy. We worked on using the open number line strategy which allows students to have more flexibility in solving  when finding the difference. As well, w e continued to practice basic facts in addition and subtraction by playing a game called Race to 0.  This week students completed their collages b ased on the images they collected that connected to education. They then compared the two countries with their own educational experience in Canada looking for similarities and differences and showcasing this through a  Venn diagram.  Later in the week, students work...
