February 19th- 22nd
Highlights of our week from the perspective of our students:
-“In reading, we’ve been using the dictionary to understand
words we don’t know yet. Today I looked up “brilliant.” EVK
-“In writing, we were writing bout our long weekend. I wrote
about going to the new library. We had Take 1 and Take 2. For Take 1, we wrote
our best about our weekend. For Take 2, we had to zoom in on one thing and
really elaborate on it.” LC
-“For math today, we had five questions and I finished
three. We are working on subtracting with regrouping. We are using a lot of
different strategies.” BR
-“In math, some of us did a little bit of times (multiplication)
but it was under five for the numbers. We had to show it with things that look
like cucumbers.” JM
-“We did a ‘show what you know’ about the four countries
that we have been working on for a long time. We had to tell what you know
about the countries.” LO
-“We did a new sport in gym, curling. How you do it is one
of the teams throws the rock at the button. There are sweepers too.” IB
-“In music, we have been learning about lines and spaces to
read our own music. It’s called a staff. We played a game where we lined up in
teams and we had letters on certain lines and spaces. If we had to run to them,
we would get points if the teammate that was going reached there first.” EM
-“We are going to learn the recorder in music.” GS
-“On Thursday, I played the piano in front of both classes.
It was a song by Mozart called “Eine kleine Nachtmusik.” HL
-“In Sibbald U today, we started on our canvases and we
chose colours that connect to ourselves and how they make us feel. I chose colours that represent my family and friends.” AM
-“In Sibbald U, there was a scavenger hunt and we had to take
pictures of what it was. There were two pictures and then you could make your
own collage when you were done.” OR
-“In Sibbald U, we were doing paper bag puppets. I made a
girl who likes Roblox. I also made a werewolf.” CM
Thank you as always to our wonderful Sibbald U volunteers.
