Sept. 4 - Sept. 7

We had a great first week in Grade Three! It was wonderful watching students reconnect with friends and also make new ones. The students became comfortable with one another as peers and we enjoyed getting to know them as learners. 

This week, the students:

-completed an "About Me" page in their visual journals.

-completed a self-reflection on reading and writing. They brainstormed how these literacy tasks make them feel.

-tried out different spots in the classroom to see where they felt most comfortable reading. The different options in our room are the stumps, stools, comfy chairs, tables, standing tables, and carpet.

-started "Fire Writing".

-collaborated in groups of four to find numbers to 100. After attempting this task a few times, we discussed how it is important in math to try different strategies and to share them with others. 

-identified as a class, that group work looks like "focusing, listening, talking to each other, taking turns, and everyone participating". 
-participated in "Shake the Break" where students danced to music in the gym!
